Excellent location, fabulous staff and very pleasant atmosphere
Only one night stay but was great; hotel staff was extremely nice and ready to help with anything and did. (even with things we didnt know about ie. like getting our train ticket on the island before going to station)
Excellent location not far from the vaporetto station of San Saccaria next to San Marco and no bridges and steps in between which is so important if one has to shlepp the baggage in Venice. Lovely and originally decorated and clean place to stay. We will come back.
Excellent location near San Marco, easy to reach if you have GPS (definitely saved us), quiet room. This hotel is small and cosy, with attention to details when referring to room design. Friendly staff, small eating room but had its charm. The breakfast was basic in my opinion (to many sweets) – the only thing that can be improved. All in all, I definitely recommend this location.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was central to the Pizza San Marco and Grand Canal Vaporetto transport. Our room was spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated. We had a rooftop outlook to the Ducal Palace. There was a choice of breakfast being served in the cosy breakfast room or in our room without extra charge. We consider this to be a gem of a hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We could not have asked for a better hotel or service. The staff were always helpful, courteous, & accommodating. Our room & hotel was very clean & comfortable along with being a great value for what you get with this hotel! The building has so much history being over 500 years old but updated to meet todays needs & comforts. Breakfast brought to our room each morning was such a nice treat! We for sure will stay at this hotel again our next visit to Venice! Thank you Locanda Al Leon & staff for making our first visit to Venice an enjoyable one!
Lovely greeting from Marcella, and she spent a lot of time helping us with maps and locations, which was lovely. You couldn't get a better location than this....less than 3-4 mins walk from St Marks Square, lovely and reasonable restaurants within a couple of mins walk, very easy to get from vaporetto stop to hotel, just a few minutes walk also.
We where met and made very welcome, by friendly and very helpfull staff. Our room was very clean, smart and comfortable. The hotel is in a good location to many attractions. We would recommend this hotel.
The only downside to the hotel, was the dinning room which is very small. There was no cooked breakfast, but there was plenty to eat.
Excellent value for money, 30seconds walk from bridge of sighs and st marks square, charming hotellier, very clean, quiet at night, cant recommend highly enough, especially for young couples.
The location of the hotel and also of the annex was much closed to San Marco square, and this was excellent. Also, the room was very clean, the towels were changed daily.
The breakfast could be better, more European than Italian breakfast.
Fabulous location and very helpful staff. Breakfast was pretty good, too, with breads, jams, butter, cheese, cereal, yogurt, and choice of coffees. Historic building was well-preserved and comfortable.
Out only problem was that our room was too well located, right on the square, so at night there was a party going on right below our window. (We mostly saw this as a plus). The windows were well-insulated, and with the air conditioner turned on we probably didn't need our ear plugs, although we used them.
Proximity to every touristic locations esp. San. Marco, Comfort of the rooms, and cleannes
No elevators, but it really doesnt matter.
The location could not have been better, just near the Doges Palace, and very easy to find. The staff were friendly, and the bag depository extremely useful, and meant that we did not waste a minute exploring Venice. The first visit, our room which was in the annex, was ready, even though it was early, and the following weekend, when we stayed again, our room this time in the main building, was still being cleaned. We left our bags in reception, and on our return, they had been taken up three flights of stairs and awaited us in our room, which was extremely spacious and very clean.Cannot recommend this hotel enough and would definitely stay there again.
It did not have a lift, but to be fair, there would not have been any room to put one without detracting from the typically Venetian building. It may be difficult for guests with mobility problems, but this can be said for the whole of Venice.
Pros: - The owner of the hotel is very warm, helpful, and kind. - The hotel is in an ideal location and is not difficult to find assuming you have a map. - The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and lovely, with Murano glass light fixtures in the hallways in guest rooms. - The shower heads are very nice and the water is hot. - The free wi-fi worked well from my room and had decent bandwidth. - The breakfast was sufficient and we did not have to wait for a table. - The room and bathroom was clean.
Cons: - The beds and pillows are horrible. In my opinion they are worse than at other European hotels. My mother hurt her back very badly trying to sleep on the rock-hard bed and lumpy pillow. We paid for two nights but left after the first night. If you are the sort of person who can sleep anywhere on anything, you will enjoy your stay here. If you have any sort of pre-existing back or neck issues you should stay elsewhere or at least bring your own pillow and bed padding. - The walls are very thin so bring ear plugs as well. It is an older, historic building so just be prepared for potential noise all night from other guests.
the staff is great. the location is ideal, very close to San Marco and the port. the price is ok in Venice. Locanda Al Leon provide free room service for breakfast and free wifi.
the breakfast could be better:)
